Gilson Lavis - Solo

Gilson was already an seasoned professional drummer when he met SQUEEZE (where else - in a pub). He had been part of a ‘pick-up’ group that would act as backing to established American Artists visiting Britain (who found it too expensive to bring their own musicians over). He had therefore played with luminaries like Chuck Berry. Gilson became a taxi driver after SQUEEZE split for the first time in 1982. He later began working with Jools Holland on his phenomenally successful Later TV show and is the rhythm behind Jools Holland’s Big Band. He recorded and released Drumbaba, an excellent percussion CD, well worth a listen as well as Charmer.
